Dry rot is the most efficient timber destroying fungi
known, occurring in damp and inadequately ventilated
areas.
Attack is recognised
by shrinkage and cracking of wood and may even have
fluffy cotton wool like masses growing on it where
the wood is decayed.
Infected timber
looses its strength and produces a musty damp odour.
Dry rot can travel
quickly through brickwork, along metal joists and
plaster etc. in search of fresh timber, so prompt
action is essential.
