What is Bowen? It is a non-invasive holistic therapy consisting of a sequence of gentle moves over muscle and soft tissue, interspersed with periods of rest.
What it isn't is maniplution or massage. It encourages the body to adjust and/or re-align itself as necessary, is extremely relaxing but very effective. It is suitable for all ages and a number of conditions have responded favourably. It can help to improve the quality of life of the terminally ill and to relieve symptoms of infant colic. The Bowen Technique was developed by Tom Bowen in Australia. It is now practised all over the world.
Ann Barnett was the first accredited member of the Bowen Therapists' European Register to bring this therapy to Cornwall 6 years ago, having experiencied first hand the benefits of this therapy after many years of severe back pain and major surgery.
Ann Barnett practises at the Abbey Mead Natural Health Centre in Tavistock. |
