Okehampton, a market town with its roots in Saxon times, is set the northernmost tip of Dartmoor high in the Devon countryside and at the very centre of the south west peninsula. Surrounded by the unspoilt expanse of Dartmoor National Park to the south and rolling farmland to the north, the town is fortunately placed being less than 20 miles drive from the heart of the city of Exeter with all its associated commercial and leisure facilities as well as major road, rail and air links.

Okehampton can boast of an extremely good cross section of local amenities. The selection of shops is excellent and includes a new Waitrose supermarket as well as the usual range of both national names and independent family firms. Dartmoor has a considerable influence on the town especially with regard to sporting and leisure activities, providing both scenery and countryside for family enjoyment as well as a challenge for the most experienced hill walker, being the starting point for the famous Ten tors route.

With its position within the country, Okehampton is within easy reach of both the north and south coasts of Cornwall as well as the picturesque Exmoor National Park and north Devon coast.
