Ottery St Mary is one of the oldest and most historical towns in East Devon. It lies in the valley of the River Otter, twelve miles east of Exeter and six miles inland from the coastal resort of Sidmouth.

During the holiday season the town attracts many visitors to its magnificent mediaeval church of St Mary The Virgin. Built in 1337, it is acknowledged as the finest parish church in Devon. The town has also become renowned for its Tar Barrel spectacular which takes place on November 5th.

Ottery St Mary offers a good range of shops and amenities including a Sports Centre, Cottage Hospital, Primary and Senior School, Doctor, Dentist and Veterinary Surgery.

With the opening of the new A30 which connects Ottery to Exeter and the M5, the town has become a sought-after area, popular with commuters.
