 Shaldon
is a pretty seaside village on the opposite side
of the estuary from nearby Teignmouth, with a
population of approximately 1,500.
It is conveniently situated within easy commuting distance of the M5 and A38, providing a fast route to London (approx. 185 miles). Also within easy reach is the seaside town of Teignmouth and the coastal resorts of Torbay.
The village has a lovely community feel with many places of interest for visitors and locals alike.
 The
Botanical Garden is a small park set above the
village, Shaldon Wildlife Trust cares for a large
variety of small animals and birds whilst for
the more energetic there are cliff-top walks from
the Ness as far as Torquay.
The village would not be complete without its bowling green which is still the venue for many village functions including an open air craft fair where many of the locals wear period clothing from 1785.
Shaldon is served by a main line railway situated in nearby Teignmouth and for travelling further afield Exeter's Airport and the ferry port of Plymouth are both easily accessed. |
