Arguably the jewel in East Devon's crown, Sidmouth is a peaceful and unspoilt Regency coastal resort with many fine period buildings . Sidmouth nestles between the east and west hills of the Sid valley where both splendid rural and coastal scenery are combined. Much of the countryside either belongs to the National Trust or has been designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Sidmouth has a population of approximately 14,500 and benefits from many quality shops and facilities rarely found in a town of this size.

It also plays host during August to the annual International Folk Festival. Nearby in the Sid valley are the pretty villages of Sidford and Sidbury which are a little further inland and surrounded by lovely unspoilt countryside. The picturesque villages of Branscombe, Otterton and Salcombe Regis are all close at hand with their delightful thatched cottages and wealth of charm and character.

Despite its tranquil character, Sidmouth is within a short driving distance of Exeter with its easy links to the M5 and primary roads, mainline railway stations and Exeter International airport.
