 Saltash
enjoys a hillside setting above the banks of the
River Tamar with spectacular views over the estuary
and the Tamar's two great bridges. The proximity
of these bridges means that connections to Devon
could hardly be better. The stunning Royal Albert
Bridge was opened in 1859 and stands on the main
west coast London to Penzance rail route. Just
over 100 years later, the Tamar Bridge was completed
providing the A38 road link to Plymouth and Exeter.
 Saltash
is well served by served by schools having its
own play groups, junior, infant and secondary
school as well as a College of Further Education.
There are Grammar schools and of course the University
just over the river in Plymouth.

With an abundance of history surrounding Saltash, there are many buildings of historic and architectural interest in the locality. Mount Edgecumbe with its stunning Italianate gardens is to the south and Buckland Abbey lies to the north of Plymouth.
