 Centrally
located between Penzance and Truro, Camborne is
an excellent touring centre for the whole of the
Penwith peninsula. It has very good access to
the A30 and is just 5 miles from the north coast
with its excellent surfing and bathing facilities
at Portreath, Porthtowan, Perranporth and Newquay.
There is a good range of shops and schools within
the town and a mainline railway station provides
regular inter-city connections via Plymouth.
 There
has been a period of new growth and industry in
the area; new home development is strong and the
town has recently benefited from a period of refurbishment
to the main street and town square.
The historic town of Helston is 10 miles to the south, beyond which lies the Lizard Peninsula, an area of outstanding beauty and dramatic contrasts. Goonhilly Earth Station stands high on the windswept summit whilst the tiny and picturesque villages of Cadgwith and Mullion nestle on the pretty coastline. Of the many tourist features in the area the Minnack Open Air Theatre is a summer favourite whilst the nearby Flambards Victorian Village and Theme Park is one of the region's leading family attractions. |
